A message from Lucia de Vries in Nepal, who is working tirelessly to gain support for the campaign against the slaughter of thousands of animals at the Gadhimai Festival:

Dear friends,

Please note that a Gadhimai campaign blogspot has been opened which will be updated regularly: http://gadimai.blogspot.com/

Today, we handed over a petition with 3200 signatures to State Minister Karima Begam. We suggested the government should make it mandatory for every animal to be sacrificed at Gadhimai to carry a certificate of good health from a quarantine department in India or Nepal. Ms Begam was very cooperative and promised to discuss the suggestion with her officers.

 Important dates:

Thursday November 12 – Ahimsa Darna in Kalyan bazaar, Bara, at 11 am

Friday November 13 – Sit in Demo at Patan Durbar Square, at 4 pm

Please reserve these dates. Remember: Each voice on behalf of the voiceless counts!
