With the support of Amedea in Mexico and the Humane Society International, the Colombian animal activist, Álvaro Múnera Builes, will visit the University of Mexico City on January 27-28.

The subject of these lectures is: Ethics and bullfighting, from bullfighter to animal rights activist.

Once a bullfighter, whom the vissicitudes of life converted into a defender of animals,  Alvaro will give three lectures – one for legislators and journalists and the other two for students, animal rights activists and the general public.

Alvaro is now a member of the Medellin Council – the first big city to go anti-bullfight and friend of animals. He has gained the support of most of the other councillors, with whom he works to maintain this stance.

He wrote:

“Oh Terciopelo, the bull who killed “Pilarico”  – (his bullfighter’s name) – and brought Álvaro Múnera Builes to life! You do not know how much I thank you for your goring… I am aware of this fact: even working till the end of my life defending the right of the animals not to be tortured, I shall never repay the harm I caused them.”
