“We remember also all those animals that have been drawn into our wars – the eight million horses killed in the First World War, the dogs used as runners between the trenches, and the animals we continue to test weapons on for our future wars. We ask your forgiveness Lord for this abuse of your creation.”
This prayer was composed by Helen Porter, for a service for the re-dedication of the new War Memorial Garden in Montgomery.
Our group, Montgomery Voice for Animals, will this year be placing a purple poppy wreath at the Remembrance Services in four of our local towns. This is easy to arrange, via town clerk or vicar, and it has given us the opportunity afterwards to talk to other people involved in the services.
