The members of the SOFA CLUB – junior girls from Thorpe House School, Norfolk, who earlier this year received the Charlotte Wright award for their excellent work for animals – meet their new MP, Chloe Smith. They met to explain to her their campaign for the compulsory microchipping of dogs, backed by the RSPCA and many other animal welfare groups.

Following the positive contacts they had with Dr. Ian Gibson, their former MP, whose  support made an Early Day Motion possible, they are all hoping their new voice in Parliament will endorse the campaign and help to get a law passed. Fortunately, both Labour and the Tories are broadly in favour.

The girls are also intending to meet Andrew Rosindell MP, the Shadow Animal Welfare Minister, who has a particular concern for the welfare of dogs.
