Mysterious lives.

We continue to explore the hidden lives of plants and animals in our latest issue. Trees, octopi, reptiles, insects, fish – what do we really know of them? More and more, and with thanks not only to the painstaking and patience of ethologists and field researchers but to the artists and poets who allow us to enter imaginatively into their deeply mysterious lives. So incredibly like us, so unfathomably unlike us.

We also have a member’s reflections on the joys and heartaches of cat fostering, plus features on campaigning organisations in the UK, USA, India.

Fittingly, our Spring 2019 issue concludes with some strikingly beautiful and meditative photo portraits of farmed animals who have been allowed to live beyond their accustomed years on sanctuaries.
