Readers may remember the following Minute 15.2 of the Central and Southern Africa Yearly Meeting of 2006:
Concern for non-human animals – Do we recognize the suffering imposed on non-human animals by human animals in the flesh and milk industry; in vivisection laboratories; in using them for power and entertainment, and in the taking of their natural habitat? Given that non-human animals are utterly powerless to resist this oppression, how is our Society called to act?
This now forms part of the Central and Southern Africa Yearly Meeting Quaker Faith and Practice
QCA would like to commend Les Mitchell and other Friends in Central and South Africa Yearly Meeting for this important achievement. We hope that it will be emulated elsewhere.
