Father Tomasz, a Polish Catholic priest based in Vienna, works with autistic children and disturbed teenagers in his parish. He is also involved in animal ministry.
For the Feast of St. Francis, he travelled to the Vatican where he fasted, prayed and did healing for the animals.
He also took a petition to the Pope and is campaigning for the suffering of animals to be recognised by the Christian churches and for the Pope to mention this in his urbi et orbi – to the city (of Rome) and the world – address at Easter.
Our friend Ela Josephs–Kniaz, who is in communication with Father Tomasz in Polish, tells us that he is getting much support and a large following from animal-friendly people.
We hope to hear more news of this compassionate priest, who, through Ela, says:
THANK YOU – DZIEKUJE – SZCESC BOZE – GOD BLESS…
What bothers me is that many priests will bless the animals and then go home and eat one. Real compassion means walking your talk in all aspects of your life.
Indeed, that will concern us all. However, surely we must commend and be glad about all signs of awareness?
thank you father tomasz—–the churches are way behind in addressing animal suffering –they are our fellow creatures—i love st basil’s prayer for animals
from barbara (quaker concern for animals)
It is so good to know that, more and more, all over the world, the idea that animals are God’ s creatures as well as is man, has been increasing:
Thanks to people like you!
Thank you Father Tomasz, it means so much to me to find people like myself that want to end animal cruelty. I find it difficult to be in a world that does not honor all God’s creatures and therefore love all animals that I am blessed to be in the presence of.
Thank you, Father Tomasz, your Ahimsa in action has moved me to tears!
