    You state that it is a ploy to discredit foxes to say they kill lambs and research shows few lambs and only those which are sick are taken. A lifetimes experience of hill farming indicates otherwise. Foxes do take newly born and young lambs leaving the mother sheep distressed and the farmer as well. Also the kindest way to keep hens is to let them live free range but they can be taken by foxes by daylight especially early morning. The alternative is to have them in huge numbers indoors. Even with access out doors they do not necessarily have access grass and natural diet.
