The Wandong Playgroup spent several enchanted hours on June 2 08 at Willowmavin’s unique Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary. Tiny tots delighted in the opportunity to get close to many of the rescued resident animals, while sitting on the bright shining new tractor was a hit with others.

It is truly wonderful to watch the expressions on the faces of the little ones as they feel the soft sponginess of a sheep’s wool, or rub the tummy of a happy pig, said sanctuary Founder Pam Ahern. For many children, their first lessons in empathy come from interactions with animals. Learning to think about others places children well on the road to being more compassionate adults. After all, animals are not that different from people in that they all need and deserve to be treated humanely and with respect.

Edgar’s Mission farm sanctuary a not-for-profit sanctuary for rescued farmed animals – regularly gives visitors the opportunity to meet and learn about animals they would not normally encounter. The farm is currently home to over 100 animals, including three stars of the hit movie Charlotte’s Web, Alice Pig, Lily Pig and Daisy Pig.
