Part of PAWS ‘Operation ARV 2011’ initiative is to vaccinate as many strays in remote places of Maharashtra, as well as in crowded public places on a massive scale.

The first drive was organized at Thane Station last month when all the area dogs were vaccinated against rabies & given first aid for

The 2nd drive in the series was conducted on 23-24 July 2011 at Holy Shri Sai Baba’s Temple area in Shirdi. With the help & support of Shirdi Nagar Panchayat & Temple Trust, PAWS team vaccinated 55 Strays in & around areas of the Temple. Over 15 strays were given first aid for small wounds & skin problems.

 

Vaccines and other supplies were provided free by Virbac & Premium Pets.

The PAWS Team comprised Trustee Manasi Bhanage, along with Vets Dr. Anahita Kumar & Dr. Lalitha Gopalan, volunteers Avinash, Akhsay, Jayshree, Shreya, Sandhya and staff Prabhu who participated in this 2 days

They are now in process of arranging sterilization for the Shirdi area dogs.

5 Mass AR Drives are also scheduled over the next 5 months – for Shegaon Temple (Lord Gajanan), Narsobachi Wadi, Gangapur (Lord Datta) for dogs as well as donkeys, & Ganpatipule (Lord Ganesha) beach area & temple area.

PAWS will also be doing mass vaccinations at Bus Depots & Markets. A minimum of 50 to 100 strays are targeted for vaccinations in each area.
